Hard review to write. I bought this for my mother in law along with many other items to help her ... so she only got to use it a few times before Cancer took her. She seemed to like it. It was also recommended to me by two cancer survivors who knew I was trying to help ensure my mother in law had a good quality of life, regardless. Product worth trying. If you are reading this and you or someone you love needs help try this. I hope it helps.

I have used Alra lotion during and after radiation treatment. As other reviewers have noted, it is "unscented" but does have a little bit of a blah smell that some people may not like - it didn't bother me. Overall, I think Alra lotion is pretty great. I used it at least two or three times per day for the duration of my radiation and didn't ever really get burns. I found the lotion to be very gentle, smooth and not too greasy on my clothing. However, I do want to warn others about the pump-top container such as the one shown here. The pump on my container didn't work so I had to break open the top and then the lotion was so thick that I had to use a kitchen knife to get it out of the container. Once broken, I couldn't then re-close the top securely. Hence three stars for the pump-top. The Alra lotion that comes in the flip top container is, in my experience, lighter and easier to squeeze out of the container as well as easier to apply to sensitive skin. The Alra lotion in the flip top gets 5 stars from me. I happened to have both types of containers on-hand at the same time so I examined them carefully - they appear to be the same product with the same name and description on the front. However, the fine print on the back and the ingredient list is slightly different on the two containers. I'm no chemist so I couldn't tell you how the different ingredients make the product differ but I will note that the pump container indicates that it is not only fragrance- and alcohol-free…

FAQs

Why does my skin feel dry, tight, or flaky during cancer treatment?

Radiation and chemotherapy can damage your skin’s natural barrier, causing moisture loss and increased sensitivity.

To restore hydration and reduce flakiness, use fragrance-free, lipid-replenishing products like Alra Therapy Lotion, which contains lanolin and phytosterols to soothe and seal in moisture.
